Why is codiag suddenly free to use for all?

Under the current circumstances with COVID-19, access to health information is crucial for all of us. We have decided to open up the platform to help alleviate some pressure on healthcare providers and hospitals who are working tirelessly dealing with the pandemic.

Is there a limit to the amount of searches I can do?

No. You can search as much as you like and adapt your search as you go along.

Can I search by keywords only?

There are many ways to search. You can list symptoms in keywords, full sentences, or even copy complete doctors notes from your medical file into the search field.

How can I see related articles to one particular diagnosis?

Next to each diagnosis is a link to see articles which match the diagnosis “show more articles”. This will lead you to more information on the condition.

How do I save or print my diagnosis list and relevant articles?

You can use the print function of your web browser to get a hardcopy of your results.

Does the codiag search work for kids too?

Of course! You filter your results by age groups by selecting the appropriate tag from the "Age" dropdown. You can also type below into the searchbox to search directly.


Can codiag tell me if I have COVID-19?

Only a medical test performed by a healthcare professional can tell you if you have the Coronavirus. If you have entered your symptoms in the search field and COVID-19 was in the diagnosis list, contact your healthcare provider to get tested. If you are uncertain if you have the virus, make sure you take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and those around you.

How likely is it that I have one of the diagnoses in the list on the first page?

The outcome of the search depends completely on your entry. Try to make your query as complete as possible to get the most accurate results. If you have one, you can even copy entire paragraphs of your doctor’s note into the search box.

I think I found my diagnosis, what do I do next?

Take your findings to your healthcare provider and discuss proper medical testing and next steps with them. If you want additional information, you can also use our literature search feature to discover medical articles on the topic.

Why do I see a different diagnosis list every time I add something to my search?

As you add more information to your query or apply different filters, the system gets a more concrete picture of your case and may change the literature and diagnoses shown to you.


Is codiag selling my data and searches?

No. Your searches are always private, we never collect personal data nor do we sell data to third parties. We do store searches anonymously to improve our AI system so that it gives you even better results in the future. See our Data Protection Declaration for more details.

We rely on ads to be able to make our platform available for free to everyone.


How does codiag work exactly?

codiag cross references your search terms with millions of medical articles. The diagnoses and literature articles on the top of the ranking are most closely related to your inputs. The more precisely you describe your situation and set your filters, the better your results will be.

How is codiag different from other search engines such as Google?

General web search engines are not built and optimized for medical purposes and may give you unreliable content. codiag exclusively works on the basis of confirmed medical expert literature to ensure that the content you see is reliable.

When I click a medical article to read, I can only see the abstract. How can I read the full article?

We cannot provide access to proprietary paid content. The links take you to the publishers’ pages where you can either log in with your existing credentials or request access. Whenever possible, we point to open-access literature sources.

I want to use my doctor’s notes to do a search. Where can I find my medical file?

Ask your doctor how to get a hold of your file. They can either print it out for you or often even send it to you via email.

I am a healthcare professional. How can I use codiag in my day-to-day?

I do not have health insurance and can’t afford going to the doctor. Can I self-medicate based on codiag’s top diagnosis result?

Could the medical articles show me disturbing content?

We won’t show any graphic details on our site but the medical article itself, when opened on the publisher’s site, may contain gory bits in some cases.

I am already diagnosed but I am not sure what treatment I want/need. How can codiag help me?

You can use codiag to discover articles that are relevant to your diagnosis. We are continuously updating our repository so that you can get to the latest research as early as possible.
